Oliver Jones and Ranee Lee

With four Juno Awards, 10 Juno nominations (including one this year), and 20 albums to his credit, pianist Oliver Jones is a Canadian musical institution.  Among the honours bestowed on him are a Governor-General's Award, four Félix Awards, half a dozen honourary degrees and an Order of Canada.  In addition to these musical and honourary achievements, Oliver Jones has toured extensively world-wide, and worked with sidemen the likes of Ray Brown, Clark Terry and Ed Thigpen.  At this year's festival he will be joined by one of his favourite musical partners, singer Ranee Lee, who has established herself as one of Canada’s premier jazz vocalists and whose pedigree includes five Juno nominations, the 2010 Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year , and a “Dora” for starring as Billy Holiday in “Lady Day”.  Ranee Lee is also an Order of Canada Recipient (2006).

    Lending their considerable musical talents to the evening will be the other members of the Juno-winning Oliver Jones Trio; drummer Jim Doxas and bassist Eric Lagacé.  They will be joined by jazz guitar virtuoso Richard Ring, Ranee Lee's husband and long-time musical collaborator as well as a frequent sideman and recording artist with Oliver Jones.
