West End Blues Band

Late Night at the Globe
-Wednesday, Aug 15 7:30pm
Summerside's favourite blues band will be featured twice during this year's TD PEI Jazz and Blues Festival, traveling to Charlottetown for a Monday night session at Globe World Flavours (10:30pm) then motoring back to Summerside for Wednesday night's opening set at the Vector Blues Bash (Shipyard, 7:30pm).
West End Blues Band is a hard driving quartet made up of some of the best musicians on the Island: Owen Hann (bass, vocals), Troy MacArthur (guitar, harp, vocals), James Phillips (guitar, vocals) and Reg Ballagh (drums). In terms of blues style, the band knows no limits. To quote bandleader Troy MacArthur, "The experience of all the boys brings a unique mix off all blues styles from Country to Texas and Chicago blues."
For their Summerside appearance the band will be joined by two special guests; Tryon's Barrie Sorensen (sax) and from Halifax, John Theodore (keyboards). Barrie Sorensen is a widely recognized master of jazz (and classical) saxophone and the festival's "Doug Riley Artist" for 2012. Recently returned from a multi-year teaching stint in Dubais, John Theodore will add the blues technique and spirit that have made him a favourite sideman across the maritimes.
