In memory of Doug’s tremendous impact on PEI, each year an Island musician will be selected as the “Doug Riley Artist” to open the festival with a program featuring Doug’s music. With this initiative we intend to ensure a prominent position in our festival for P.E.I. musicians, something we know would make Doug smile. For 2009, our Doug Riley artist was Charlottetown guitarist Ian Toms. This year’s Doug Riley Artist will be announced soon.
In the Schools
Once again we will be bringing our festival into the schools. PEI jazz artist Ian Toms will be part of a jazz combo traveling to Island schools giving workshops and performances. Below, Ian and Chris Budhan jam with students in Montague during last year’s inaugural school workshop tour.
We thank Purity Dairy, Long & McQuade and the PEI Department of Education for making this educational tour possible.
Staying in the Fall!
Last year the festival was a huge success in its new September home, so 2010 will be “once more..with feeling!” This year’s dates are September 23-26 (Thursday-Sunday), so mark your calendars and plan to be here.
The Thursday-to-Sunday dates (23rd-26th) are for “mainstage” performances. Other performances include our Summerside Blues Bash (Friday, Sept. 17), the Chris Driscoll Memorial Workshops (free to the public this year..details TBA) and our province-wide school workshop tour (details TBA).
Juno Winners for the Church

See You On the Waterfront
We are moving our tent to a new location.. the waterfront at Confederation Landing Park. The old tent was looking more and more like a bowling alley. We’ll have more room now to spread out a bit and make your listening (and dancing!) experience more enjoyable.
